What is GDPR? | All You Need to Know | Merrehill
So, what actually is GDPR…
and how can it affect your business?
The purpose of GDPR is to bring improved rights for individuals whose personal data is being stored and used by businesses, charities and governments. It stands for the General Data Protection Regulation. This is a European Union Law. It was enacted in April 2016 and in force across the European Union from the 25th May 2018.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which governs data regulation in the UK, can now issue fines for up to 4% of annual turnover or €20 million (£17.6 million), whichever is greater for breaching GDPR. Using Merrehill, you don’t have to worry as we take legal compliance seriously. We license our data from a recognized data owner before putting it through our thorough cleaning process. We already take steps to ensure that the business-to-business marketing campaigns we design and run on behalf of our clients are compliant with existing business disclosure rules.
