Like so many of our clients, we had a great website for years but never got any business from it apart from when we actively promoted it. Most wanted massive upfront payments to get to work plus continual monthly fees for work undertaken, this being before we'd even had a sniff off page one on Google, and also no guarantee that we ever would. This is when we had the idea that to keep in line with our fair exchange on other services we offer, we would only ever charge clients from the day they hit page one of Google, and the charge would be a low daily charge, and if they hit page two the following day, they are not charged.
